What cards from Baldur's Gate are you keeping an eye on?

Main Post: What cards from Baldur's Gate are you keeping an eye on?

Top Comment: This set seems like both a great opportunity and a trap as I don’t see the hype in the ancient dragon series... and certain cards are easier to get than thought (the legendaries) vs others so preorder pricing may not reflect that yet. . If I am right then there is some real opportunity as the chase cards change. But either way it seems like a lackluster set so still might not pay big dividends in the short term. . I myself grabbed one font of magic, battle angels (what I would think is the chase mythic), and Minsc and boo for now. Keeping an eye on delayed blast fireball as well. . For me the ancient dragons are big and splashy but all expensive and need to survive a turn to pay off at which point it feels win more. I like the cards but they don’t feel like chase mythics to me. More casual fun mythics. But currently the market is saying I am wrong so will be interesting to play against them and see how they fare.

5 Bloomburrow Cards I'm Keeping an Eye On in Modern [ARTICLE]

Main Post:

Hey all,

As we continue to languish in the Nadu ban waiting room, I've been staying occupied looking ahead to what the format looks like post August 26th. Bloomburrow doesn't look like the most powerful set for Modern, but there are a couple of cards that are worth experimenting with to see if anything is there.

We teamed up with Mana Pool recently to do a write up on a few of these cards and the ones I'm most excited to build with once Nadu gets the axe. #5 is the one I'm personally looking forward to the most.

Here's a no-paywall link to the article: https://boltthebirdmtg.com/bloomburrow-cards-for-modern-5-im-keeping-an-eye-on/

Look forward to hearing what everyone else thinks of Bloomburrow in Modern. Cheers!

Is it me or [[Garth One-Eye]] kinda breaks the rules?

Main Post:

I believe that Garth is the first card that makes a reference to a specific card that's not necessarily on the game without details right?

There are others like the second ability of [[Ajani, Strength of the Pride]] but Ajani doesn't force you to look up the card. If you don't know what [[Ajani's Pridemate]] does, it doesn't matter because the planeswalker itself tells you that.

Will they add a new rule saying something like "whenever an effect creates a copy of a card with a specific name, that card has all textprint of the mentioned card from MTG collection"?

Which would indirectly mean "If you are playing magic, you need a device with an active internet connection, or a nearby Judge" right?

I mean this is the first card with this trick. Should we expect on the future more cards with something like "create a copy of a <<insert specific card which you may not know what it does>>" ?

It's also interesting to point out that this card does not mention the word "token" for the Shivan Dragon or Black Lotus.

What are your opinions?

EDIT: I see that many of you have missunderstood my meaning. The cards you guys mention needs you to HAVE the cards on your deck. If you don't, nothing happens. The Helm of Kaldra doesn't force you to know what the Sword and Shield of Kaldra does. You either have them on your deck (which would mean you know what they do), or you don't (which means the Helm doesn't interact)

Top Comment: It is within the ability of WOTC to mint new rules.

Garth, One Eye and Battlemage's Bracers or Lithoform Engine

Main Post:

If I have [[Garth, One-Eye]] equipped with [[Battlemage's Bracers]] If I copy Garth's ability do I have to choose a new card name? I would think a new card would have to be chosen and bracer's resolves first? Then in the case of [[Lithoform Engine]] where the chose was made before Lithoform is activated does that still have to chose a new card?

Top Comment: Yes. Each time the ability resolves, you choose a different card name. So, if the Copy chooses Lotus, you cannot choose Lotus when the original resolves. The Engine, however, can copy the Spell, itself, instead of just the Activated ability. So, the Engine could copy the Lotus Spell on the Stack. Giving you two Lotuses... Loti....

Odd card interaction with Kaycee's Mod

Main Post:

I beat the second challenge tier and it awarded me a new card called Mole Man? (with the question mark), which is just mole man with red eyes and a name change. I was trying to get it through doing some non-challenge runs, and I came upon a pack rat? with red eyes. I chose it, but its not in my deck. In place of it, its always a random other card in my deck that changes every time I look at my deck while moving my character on the map. It was 2 Beehives, then 2 card counting tentacles, then 2 bullfrogs. I just want to know if this is a legit card function or a glitch because its definitely interesting. I am also aware that the beta is buggy so that's why I'm asking here.

Top Comment:

its not a bug, have fun with Cards?, they are absolutely funny and amazing.
